You’re here because your worried about your heart health – or someone close to you.  Doctors will always advise: stop smoking, eat less, exercise more, etc. etc.  The truth is they are true but for some people they are not enough or hard for them to do.  So we will show you 3 things you can do immediately and easily for heart health.  Three things that we believe could transform your life.

Focus On Inflammation

Rather than focusing on how much we eat, we can try to focus on “what” we eat and the impact on inflammation.  Inflammation is a natural and vital process but when the body becomes overwhelmed by inflammation from inflammatory foods – it can result in chronic inflammation. And chronic inflammation can also put you at risk for developing additional, more severe medical conditions.

Consuming more polyphenols in your diet regularly can be tremendously beneficial for heart health.  Polyphenols from olive oil or the olive fruit itself, provide some of the most powerful anti-inflammatory properties especially when consumed in high levels.*  Chronic inflammation affects the heart and cardiovascular system.  This inflammation can cause hypertension, high cholesterol, atherosclerosis, heart failure, and cardiomyopathy.  For example, chronic inflammation can be associated with irregular heart rates, a build-up of plaque in the arteries (atherosclerosis), high blood pressure, clots, etc.  In fact, chronic inflammation is the number one risk factor for developing cardiovascular disease..*

Breathe Deeply

Your nervous system is composed of two different systems called the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system.  Slow and deep breathing with only 6 – 8 breaths per minute vs the normal 16-20 more shallow breaths per minute will trigger this parasympathetic nervous system response which is to slow the heart beats down and cause the blood vessels in your body to dilate.  These two reactions cause your blood pressure to be reduced.

Studies are being conducted to determine the long-term effects and benefits of this exercise but it definitely has a short term impact on your heart and stress levels. – Which if these are triggered chronically and continually certain cardiovascular conditions can occur.

Drink Lots More Water

If we could just drink eight glasses of water each day – it could reduce the risk of heart failure as well as improve digestion, kidney function.  New research performed by scientists at the National Institutes of Health and presented at the European Cardiology Congress indicate that many of the factors for the deterioration of heart tissue and function could be delayed or minimized by better hydration.
