Brain tissue itself is characterized by two things: one is the high level of oxygen consumption by the brain and the second is the high level of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) in the brain.  These two factors can lead to a high level of oxidative stress and free radical production that can lead to reactive oxygen species (ROS) build up.

Fortunately, reducing oxidative stress and ROS scavenging are two things that oleuropeins and natural hydroxytyrosol do very well in the body!*  The oleuropeins enhance the autophagy function in the brain cells , and the hydroxytyrosol can inhibit oxidation activities by the brain.*
